Abstract:
Describes the planning and construction of these three extermination camps in Poland during the first half of 1942: the sizes of the camps, the gas chambers, the number of personnel required, the logistics of transport of the Jews, the problems which arose while carrying out the extermination (the gas chambers were small - at first they used trucks, technical breakdowns, disposal of the victims' bodies and of their belongings, etc.). All three camps were liquidated by November 1943. A total of 1,700,000 victims were gassed and incinerated, including the majority of the Jewish population of the General Government (Western Poland).
