Abstract:
Although Jews and Israel are not the most crucial issue among Middle Eastern societies and they have not been the focus of the conflicts brought about by the "Arab Spring" of 2011-14, they dominate the Arab political discourse. All competing political and religious factions, whether they support the governments or oppose them, whether they are moderate or radical Islamists, successfully manipulate the image of the Jews and accuse their political adversaries of being proxies of world Jewry. The image of the Jew as a destructive agent hostile to Arabs, Muslims, and all of humanity, has taken root in Arab societies. Even Christian communities, the situation of which has deteriorated due to the ascendancy of the Islamists, have intensified their own attacks on Israel and the Jews. Antisemitism is increasingly becoming a constant in Arab thought.
