Abstract:
After discussing Holocaust denial in the West, calls not to conflate it with that in the Middle East. While Western Holocaust denial is an expression of age-old antisemitism, Middle East Holocaust denial (the existence and proliferation of which over the last three decades can not be denied) is a form of protest against Israel's policies concerning Palestine. With the exception of the Islamic fundamentalists, no other Arab political current has imported and adapted major elements of Western antisemitism into its own discourse. The Arab brand of Holocaust denial is reactive and opportunistic; it can be reversed with a change of circumstances.
