Abstract:
Emphasizing the historical roots of antisemitism in Germany, relates that pogroms took place in various regions of Germany during the early years of the Third Reich, before the "Kristallnacht", and also during the Weimar Republic. Describes, also, physical attacks on Jews in Germany in the 18th century, and surveys antisemitic excesses during the 19th century, such as the "Hep-Hep" riots in 1819, terror and looting in the Rhineland, and pogroms in Alsace in 1848 and in small German towns in 1866. Attacks on Jews also occurred as a result of blood libels.
