Abstract:
Describes the activities of the couriers of Ha'irgun Halohem, the underground in the Kraków ghetto, between July 1942-January 1943. The underground was led by Akiva, a Jewish Zionist religious youth movement, and included members of the movements Dror, Hashomer Hatzair, Hashomer Hadati, and Hanoar Hadati. The couriers, mainly young women, disseminated information about the process of annihilation of the Jews, in order to warn the Jewish communities and the youth movements; supported resistance and underground activities by distributing a newsletter; procured arms and forged papers; kept in touch with various communities and youth movement groups; found hiding places for endangered activists; and maintained contact with partisans in the forests.
