Abstract:
Fragments of a diary (published in Yiddish in Buenos Aires, 1947) from the period 12 July 1942-28 August 1943, written by the person responsible for the archives of the Jewish community of Warsaw. Describes life in the ghetto, the progressive liquidation of its population, and the activities of the Judenrat and of Adam Czerniakow. Describes, as well, the figure of Janusz Korczak and his deportation together with the children of his orphanage. Relates the story of Jakub Rabinowicz, who after being deported to Treblinka escaped from there and returned to the ghetto. In a preface (pp. 5-7), Nathan Weinstock describes the figure of Hillel Seidman.
