Abstract:
In Jb 10,20, a double qere / ketiv in Hebrew, a singular freedom of the LXXin the first colon and a double translation of a Hebrew word in the Vulgate leadto divergent readings of the Hebrew text. The article presents the three mostcommon reading hypotheses and proposes two others, one too ignored, theother new. In this last reading, unlike the others, Job’s question is not about hisfinitude or the brevity of his life but about the imminence of his death.
