Abstract:
Examines an album of 85 photographs of the looting of Jews in Paris that has been preserved in the federal archives of Koblenz. States that, until now, historiography has paid no attention to archival images, which have been merely used for the purpose of illustration. However, such photographs constitute documents that can help us to understand precisely how those involved in the acts of looting actually viewed their work, and enable us to grasp the "Nazi gaze".
