Abstract:
The Jewish banker and art collector Albert Figdor held, at one point, the largest collection of art in Europe, and one of the largest collections of Jewish art and ritual objects. After his death in 1927, his collection was broken up and sold, in 1930, at auctions held in Vienna and Berlin. Only a small amount of his holdings remained in Vienna; most of them ended up in Germany.
