Abstract:
In Islamic countries, throughout history, Jews did not suffer from the type of racist antisemitism which developed in Europe. As "dhimmis" they were considered weak and puerile, but they were also protected. This attitude changed with the establishment of the State of Israel, when an Islamization of European antisemitism began to take shape; it has become quite prevalent today. This Jew-hatred is used as a weapon in the struggle against Israel. Focuses, especially, on statements made by Islamic spiritual and political leaders since the start of the second Intifada, calling for the destruction of Israel, school textbooks which advocate a war of Jihad against Israel, and antisemitic propaganda in the media and on the Internet. Queries whether European leaders are aware that European racist antisemitism has spread to the Middle East.
