Abstract:
Giulio Antonio Santoro, born in Italy, served as Archbishop of Santa Severina from 1566 until his death. He was made a Cardinal in 1570, and held various roles in the Church in the late 16th century, including head of the Roman Inquisition. He was continuously involved in censorship of Bible-related material, and he also presided over the Church's project of obligatory sermons to convert the Jews.
