Abstract:
Discusses the chances and rate of survival of Jewish refugees who arrived in the Netherlands between 1933-38, based on statistical analysis (shown in seven tables) relating to factors such as country of origin, age, gender, and place of residence in the Netherlands. According to a census carried out by the German occupation authorities in 1941, there were then in the Netherlands 140,000 Jews, 22,800 of whom were refugees. The statistical models show that Jews born abroad had a 39.6% chance of surviving, whereas Dutch-born Jews had a rate of 25.2%. Among the survivors, those with better chances were refugees living in Amsterdam, especially males under the age of 21.
