Abstract:
Presents three texts from the Ringelblum Archives written by Yisroel Lichtensztajn, who worked with Ringelblum in the Warsaw ghetto. Lichtensztajn participated in the action to save the archives. The first two texts describe the deportation from the ghetto in summer 1942, the conditions in the ghetto, and the people he knew. The third text is his own last testament. Lichtensztajn's wife and daughter were murdered in Treblinka in 1943; the date of his death is unknown. Weinstock translated the texts from Yiddish, and describes the figure of Lichtensztajn (pp. 164-171).
Note:
Includes a French translation of three Yiddish documents on the subject, written by Yisroel Lichtensztajn, found in the Ringelblum archives.
