Pamplona (disputation)
Abstract:
A disputation took place in 1379 in Pamplona between Cardinal Pedro de Luna (the future Antipope Benedict XIII) and Rabbi Shem Tob ibn Shaprut from Tudela, on several theological subjects - e.g. sin, grace, promise, and punishment. Compares the arguments of Pedro de Luna to sermons of the Dominican friar Vincent Ferrer, with whom he had contacts, pointing out similarities in content and style. The text of the Hebrew account of the disputation, from ibn Shaprut's "Even bohan", is given on pp. 431-433.
Note:
With the Hebrew text (pp. 431-433), which appears in Ibn Shaprut's "Even Bohan".
