Abstract:
Despite his open-minded attitude, Justin's "Dialogue with Trypho" testifies that Christians and Jews entered a new phase of mutual intolerance in the mid-2nd century. They did not seek coexistence, but rather conversion - i.e. the extinction of their opponents. However, the content of the "Dialogue" shows that the final result of this conflict cannot be predicted because both Christians and Jews must struggle to survive under conditions of Roman persecution.
