Kurzfassung:
In May 1944, photographs were taken of transports of Hungarian Jews from Beregszasz arriving in Auschwitz, published as "The Auschwitz Album" (1980). Reflects on who the photographer could have been (there are two possible candidates) and why these photos were taken. As taking pictures at Auschwitz was forbidden, the photos must have been ordered officially, for propaganda purposes. According to Martin Gilbert, they were intended for a document about "the resettlement of the Hungarian Jews" which was never published.
