Abstract:
Discusses the stance of two Italian Jewish journals, "Israel" (founded in Firenze in 1916) and "La Rassegna Mensile di Israel" (founded in Firenze in 1925), regarding the "Nostra aetate" declaration of Vatican Council II in 1965. The "Rassegna" contended that it was a point of departure from the millenarian tradition of anti-Judaism in the Church. However, "Israel" asserted that the declaration was ambivalent regarding Christian anti-Jewish traditions, and that the actions of the Council were an internal issue of the Church, of only marginal interest to the Jewish world.
