Abstract:
Despite limitations on references to the Jewish victims of Nazism in documentary and feature films introduced in the USSR at the end of 1941, the theme of the Holocaust did appear in wartime film productions. Documentaries tried to blur the nationality of the victims, but some feature films showed Jews - both as soldiers and as victims. Refers to Mark Donskoi's film "Unconquered" (1945) as the first film in the world to show the genocide of the Jews. After the war, attempts were made to purge Soviet films of Jewish images. However, even in 1945-57 some directors managed to overtly or covertly put Jewish heroes on the screen.
