Abstract:
Describes the role of right-wing radical student organizations in the enforcement of the numerus clausus. Their violent actions pressured the government into the legislation of the 1920 numerus clausus law, which was amended in 1928. Despite the amendment, discrimination against Jews still continued, and unofficially the numerus clausus policy was applied. The radical student organizations were fighting for a more significant decrease in the number of Jewish students. Their violent actions consisted of insulting and beating up Jewish students, throwing them out of classes and preventing them from attendance. From 1938 they demanded numerus nullus, which was finally achieved in 1944.
