Abstract:
Discusses similarities between Nazism and Islamic fundamentalism, including the use of anti-Western and anti-Jewish propaganda and belief in a Jewish world conspiracy. Antisemitism has spread quickly through Muslim communities in democratic countries since September 2000, resulting in violent acts against Jews and Jewish property, mainly in Europe. Fundamentalist Muslims blame the Jews for the 9/11 attack. They accuse the Jews of racism and of creating a "Holocaust myth" to further their own interests. Fundamentalist propaganda (especially in Egypt) depicts anti-Jewish stereotypes which were common in the medieval period and in the Nazi era, as do Palestinian textbooks. Palestinians have accused Israel of poisoning their water and infecting their children. Islamic fundamentalists harbor a deep hatred of Israel and the Jews, who are seen as the root of all evil; therefore, they refuse to compromise or make peace with Israel, which they feel would result in their subjection to the Jews. Discusses, also, how fundamentalists use Holocaust denial to delegitimize the State of Israel.
