Abstract:
Surveys attitudes of Huguenot theologians, academics and historians - who had fled from Catholic France to Brandenburg- Prussia in the late 17th-18th centuries - toward the Jews. The Huguenots and Jews, both of them escaping from persecution, were welcome in Brandenburg-Prussia where the indigent population had been decimated by the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648). Some Huguenot sources express traditional Christian anti-Jewish views, but the general trend throughout the 18th century was toward appreciation and understanding. The most antisemitic views were expressed by J.H.S. Formey.
