Abstract:
Analyzes the thought of these two Viennese intellectuals, including their hatred of their Jewish background. Kraus's antisemitism was part of his condemnation of the corruption of culture and language in fin-de-siècle Vienna, in which he saw Jews playing a leading role. He flirted with antisemites such as Houston S. Chamberlain and Lueger, and attacked the Dreyfusards and the Zionists. He demanded the complete assimilation of the Jews. Weininger's antisemitism arose from his personal identity problems and self-hatred; he identified Jewishness with femininity, both of which the male must recognize in himself in order to overcome them.
