Abstract:
Shows how specific Greek renderings of Hebrew terms and passages reflect the conditions in the Hellenistic world at that time. Focuses on the Greek rendering of the word "mohar" ("bride price") as "dowry' - in Genesis 34,12 and in Exodus 22,16 - and its implications for the institution of the dowry in later Judaism.
