Abstract:
Discusses the history of Jewish-Christian dialogue since World War II, mentioning failures and achievements of the Catholic Church during and after the war, especially of Popes Pius XI, Pius XII, John XXIII, and John Paul II. Deals with the content of the Vatican document "We Remember", issued on 16 March 1998, on the Catholic Church and the Holocaust. States that the document contains some deceptive passages, because they minimize the responsibility of the Church concerning the annihilation of the Jews, claiming that the roots of Nazi ideology were outside of Christianity. States that the purpose of this document is not apology or repentance, but justification.
