Abstract:
Surveys the history of the Jews in the Baltic countries, focusing on their fate in the Holocaust. Concerning Latvia and Lithuania, reports on pogroms carried out by local residents after the Nazi occupation in June 1941, massacres by the Nazis with Latvian and Lithuanian collaboration, ghettoization, deportations in 1943, and partisan warfare in Lithuania. In Estonia, where ca. 3,000 Jews emigrated and only ca. 1,000 remained under the Nazi occupation, local forces also collaborated in arrests and murders.
