Abstract:
The author analyzes Antoni Słonimski’s satirical writings and reviews his ties to cabarets and theatres, analyzing selected works: political puppet shows, jokes, puns, etc. She also presents the writer’s satirical contributions to the periodical "Wiadomości Literackie", for which he wrote critical reviews, feuilletons and polemical articles, which often aroused controversy. The last part of the article looks at the literary and stage reception of Słonimski’s comedies "Murzyn warszawski" [The Warsaw Negro], "Lekarz bezdomny" [Homeless Doctor] and "Rodzina" [The Family].
