Abstract:
Surveys the most important topics in polemics against Judaism found in Christian writings of the 2nd century, before and after Marcion. These topics were: arguments against the mitzvot (commandments), interpretation of the Bible, the theological question of the "transfer of the Covenant", and complaints of a historical nature (e.g. culpability of the Jews for the death of Jesus). Analyzes several texts of the period, such as "Kerygma Petri" ("Prediction of Peter"), the "Apology" by Aristide of Athens, the "Dialogue with Trypho" by Justin Martyr. Concludes that most of the arguments were used in Christian polemics throughout the centuries until the changes incurred by the "Nostra Aetate" declaration in 1965.
