Abstract:
Summarizes the history of the publication and the dissemination of the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion". Compares passages from the "Protocols" with parallel texts in the "Dialogue aux enfers entre Machiavel et Montesquieu" by Maurice Joly (1864), which was revealed in 1921 by the "Times" of London as the source of the "Protocols". Shows how the dialogue, a satire against the regime of Napoleon III, was clumsily reworked to provide evidence of a Jewish conspiracy.
