Kurzfassung:
Analyzes the rhetorical structure of I Thessalonians to show that the seemingly anti-Jewish passages are merely incidental to the main purpose of the letter: to comfort the Thessalonians for their persecution by their pagan townsmen by reminding them that the prophets and Jesus were also persecuted (in their case, by the Jews) and that God always punishes the persecutors. Comparing this passage to Romans 1,18, asserts that Paul's condemnation of the pagans is far more comprehensive than his condemnation of the Jews; his rhetoric against the Jews, however, is more vehement because he still sees them as his own people.
