Abstract:
The article analyses 2 Kings 22:3–11 both synchronically and diachronically. Both analyses refute the existence of a temple library in pre-exilic times. The non-existence of such a library raises the question of the priests’ level of education. The article describes the Jerusalem Temple as a place of worship; priests were primarily responsible for sacrifices. This characterisation allows for further conclusions and considerations regarding religion and theology of the pre-exilic period.
