Abstract: This article studies the use of vocabulary related to healing in the prophetic literature of the Hebrew Bible. The argument is that words connected the notion of healing are normally used in this corpus with a metaphorical sense, which is part of a shared theological motif to which belong certain specific elements that are creatively reworked in each text. In the first part of this study, I offer an overview of the different words for healing used throughout the Hebrew Bible. Subsequently, the discussion will focus on the specific use of this vocabulary as a metaphor in prophetic texts, also bearing in mind the remainder of the biblical corpus.
