Kurzfassung:
Discusses the attitudes of Church leaders just before the expulsion from Spain based on examination of the texts of synods held in the Diocese of Avila. The text of the 1481 synod (given on pp. 45-49) contains a repetition of traditional prohibitions on social contacts between Christians and Jews, indicating the existence of frequent contacts between them and that the Church was indecisive as to whether to invite Jews into the Church or to consider their presence as corrupting. Raises the question whether the Church was concerned about contacts between Jews and Christians in general or specifically between Jews and New Christians.
