Abstract:
Traces developments of the Carmelite convent affair in Auschwitz from the end of 1987 until 1989. Discusses political efforts to remove the convent, Israel's involvement, outside protests, Polish public opinion, the position of Cardinal Glemp, and the recent intervention of the Pope which appears to indicate the likely move of the convent.
