Kurzfassung:
Discusses the French/Yiddish weekly "Informations Juives", published in April 1941-January 1942 in Paris by the Association consistoriale israélite de Paris (ACIP), under the auspices of Theodor Dannecker. Argues that although "Informations Juives" was intended as a tool for spreading Nazi orders and propaganda among the Jews, it in fact also expressed Jewish concerns during the transition period leading up to the implementation of the Final Solution. In addition to public announcements concerning the Jews, the journal contained many articles on Jewish history and literature, written mainly by its chief editor, Leo Israel Israelowicz, an Austrian Jew of Polish origin, previously connected to the Jewish council in Vienna. Examines the tensions created by the juxtaposition of articles on Jewish culture and history with Nazi law texts, as well as by the difference between the French and Yiddish editions of the journal. "Informations Juives" was discontinued shortly after the creation of the Union générale des Israélites de France (UGIF) in November 1941. Its successor, "Bulletin de l'UGIF-Informations Juives", focused almost exclusively on publicizing the texts of anti-Jewish laws.
