Abstract:
In 1960-62, an attempt was made in the USSR to publish the Russian version of Ber Mark's book "The Uprising in the Warsaw Ghetto". Glavlit, the Soviet censorship, was against this publication. The controversy between the publishers and Glavlit went as high as the Politburo's propaganda department, which in 1960 banned the publication as being "too narrow a topic" and "incorrect". In 1962, Mark tried to promote the publication of his book in the USSR, but the new Politburo experts rejected it again, this time as a "Zionist" work. The failure to publish the book in Moscow may be attributed to a new anti-Jewish campaign in the USSR.
