Abstract:
The events in these two towns in March 1968 did not involve workers' strikes or street demonstrations. However, the policy of the town's authorities toward students, and the absence of reliable information, led to unrest amongst workers. Inter alia, relates that in order to reduce these feelings of dissatisfaction the officials organized mass meetings in which the "troublemakers and instigators" (i.e. Jews) were condemned. They called for elimination of all Zionists from the Communist Party. The local Jewish community, albeit small, found itself in an extremely difficult situation.
