Abstract:
The underground Polish organization Unia was a militant political Christian-Democratic body, while the FOP (Front Odrodzenia Polski) was non-political and devoted to social and educational problems. Describes the ideology and activities of the FOP in helping Jews, in contrast to conservative Catholic bodies which evinced antisemitism. The Unia called on its members to help Jews individually, but not collectively as did the FOP. This attitudes towards Jews changed after the war, when the old-time negative stereotypes of the Jew resurfaced.
