Kurzfassung:
Describes the circumstances of the Talmud burning in Paris in 1242 or 1244 in the context of the Crusades and the growing persecution of the Jews through violence, libels, and the imposition of the yellow badge. States that after the Paris disputation of 1240 between Nicholas Donin and Rabbi Yehiel, it was held that the Talmud was the barrier keeping the Jews from converting to Christianity and therefore had to be destroyed. Pope Gregory IX and King Louis IX decided to burn the Talmud and most other Jewish religious books that could be confiscated.
Anmerkung:
Includes extracts from the disputation between Joseph ben Nathan Official and Nicolas Donin.
