Abstract:
Analyzes the rise of the extreme-right in West Germany in recent years and its possible encouragement of latent antisemitism. Surveys extreme-right movements, such as the Deutsche Volksunion, Liste D, and the Republikaner, all of them nationalist, anti-American, anti-Zionist, and anti-communist. The New German Right intellectual circle advocates biological selection, and even the Greens have been infiltrated by right-wing militants. Revisionist doctrines (e.g. spread by HIAG) seek to rehabilitate the Third Reich, to present it as the last European bastion against the communist Asiatic barbarians, and to minimize its crimes. Paul Rassinier's falsifications about the gas chambers have also encouraged Holocaust denial. Paradoxically, the "Holocaust" TV series, emphasizing German guilt, led to anti-Jewish reactions. Argues that the revisionist, xenophobic, and anti-Zionist trend also affects left-wing parties, such as the communists, the Greens, and the left wing of the SPD.
