Kurzfassung:
Surveying the problem of coexistence of Christians, Jews, and Muslims in medieval Spain, states that one should distinguish between the attitude of the masses and that of the authorities. Even when the rulers were tolerant, the masses remained antisemitic (and anti-Muslim). By the end of the 15th century, the will of the masses and of the rulers (influenced by the Church) was one and the same. Disagrees with the widespread myth that Spain was pluralistic and tolerant at this time. Under Muslim rule the minorities had the status of "protected" people, but contends that this does not signify tolerance.
