Kurzfassung:
Gives a brief account of the fate of the Jews of northern Bukovina and Bessarabia during the Holocaust, based on archival material and interviews with survivors of the Transnistria camps and ghettos. From July 1941 these territories were under Romanian occupation. Describes the deportation of the Jews from Czernowitz and other towns and villages. The Jews were sent to Mogilev and other places. In June 1942 the ghettos were founded and Judenräte were organized. States that the Judenräte contributed to better life conditions for the inhabitants of the Transnistria camps. However, more than half of the Jews deported died of hunger and illness, or were killed in the camps.
