Abstract:
Discusses the anti-Jewish legislation of Sisebuto, Visigoth king of Spain (612-621). Supported by Archbishop Isidore of Seville, Sisebuto forbade Jews to hold Christian slaves or farm-workers, and made mixed marriages conditional on conversion of the Jewish partner. In 613, a policy of forced conversion was imposed, at which time many Jews emigrated to France and North Africa.
