Abstract:
Points out that it was in Lithuania that the mass murder of Jews by the Einsatzgruppen began; that the Lithuanian Jews suffered most of all, because in no other country was such a high percentage (95%) of the Jews exterminated; that most of the Lithuanian Jews were killed very quickly, before December 1941; and that the local population was involved in the destruction process more than in any other country. It was the Lithuanian Jews who first realized that the total annihilation of the Jews was being carried out, and who began to organize resistance.
