Abstract:
Examines interviews with witnesses of World War II and their reliability. On pp. 26-37, discusses the testimony of a German soldier stationed in Warsaw in August 1943, describing the burnt-out ghetto but asserting that he himself was not affected by it (because of his family's suffering in Germany). Explains that before the Warsaw ghetto insurrection, German tourists were brought there on excursions; they viewed the Jews like animals in a zoo. Mentions the mass deportations and the murder of 56,065 Jews from Warsaw.
Note:
Including an interview with a former German soldier, about the Warsaw ghetto (pp. 26-32).
