Kurzfassung:
Surveys attitudes toward Jews, and anti-Jewish stereotypes, in 16th-18th century Poland based on pamphlets and popular literature of the period. Examines the attitudes of the nobility and of other social classes, and the issues of religious and economic anti-Judaism. States that Jews became the "scapegoat" blamed for the economic decline of the Republic. The Jews were and remained "outsiders" in the eyes of Poles because it was only Jews who did not assimilate into Polish culture, as had the Italians, Germans, Armenians, etc.
