Abstract: Am Morgen des 5.

Abstract: "This book explores Jewish emigration from Palestine and Israel from 1945 to the early 1960s. It investigates the motivations behind emigration, the experiences of migrants in their new destinations, and the public and institutional reactions to emigration both in Israel and in receiving countries. Although the dominant view in the Jewish and non-Jewish worlds was that displaced Jews should settle in the Land of Israel, tens of thousands of Jews who immigrated to the country subsequently left, either returning to their homes in Europe and the Middle East, or heading to new destinations, mainly in North America. While the Zionist movement aspired to create a sense of Jewish rootedness and permanence in the soil of the Land of Israel, the study argues that many Jews saw the country not as a permanent homeland or a final destination, but as a site of displacement or a way-station to more desirable lands. Based on personal accounts of emigrants, on archives of government institutions both in Israel and in destination countries, on records of aid societies and Jewish diaspora communities and on the popular press, the book challenges the widely-held assumption that Zionism provided an automatic answer to the plight of Jewish refugees after World War II"--

Abstract: Conceiving Agency: Reproductive Authority among Haredi Women explores the ways Haredi Jewish women make decisions about their reproductive lives. Although they must contend with interference from doctors, rabbis, and the Israeli government, Haredi women find space for-and insist on-autonomy from them when they make decisions regarding the use of contraceptives, prenatal testing, fetal ultrasounds, and other reproductive practices. Drawing on their experiences of pregnancy, knowledge of cultural norms of reproduction, and theological beliefs, Raucher shows that Haredi women assert that they are in the best position to make decisions about reproduction. Conceiving Agency puts forward a new view of Haredi women acting in ways that challenge male authority and the structural hierarchies of their conservative religious tradition. Raucher asserts that Haredi women's reproductive agency is a demonstration of women's commitment to Haredi life and culture as well as an indication of how they define religious ethics.

Abstract: In December 1945, a Polish-born commuter on a Tel Aviv bus recognized a fellow rider as the former head of a town council the Nazis had established to manage the Jews. When he denounced the man as a collaborator, the rider leapt off the bus, pursued by passengers intent on beating him to death. Five years later, to address ongoing tensions within Holocaust survivor communities, the state of Israel instituted the criminal prosecution of Jews who had served as ghetto administrators or as kapos in concentration camps. Dan Porat brings to light more than three dozen little-known trials, held over the following two decades, of survivors charged with Nazi collaboration. Scouring police investigation files and trial records, he found accounts of Jewish policemen and camp functionaries who harassed, beat, robbed, and even murdered their brethren. But as the trials exposed the tragic experiences of the kapos, over time the courts and the public shifted from seeing them as evil collaborators to victims themselves, and the fervor to prosecute them abated. Porat shows how these trials changed Israel's understanding of the Holocaust and explores how the suppression of the trial records--long classified by the state and to this day withheld by Yad Vashem--affected history and memory. Sensitive to the devastating options confronting those who chose to collaborate, yet rigorous in its analysis, Bitter Reckoning invites us to rethink our ideas of collaboration and justice and to consider what it means to be a victim in extraordinary circumstances.--

Abstract: "As historical analyses of Diaspora Jewish visual culture blossom in quantity and sophistication, this book analyzes 19th-20th-century developments in Jewish Palestine and later the State of Israel. In the course of these approximately one hundred years, Zionist Israelis developed a visual corpus and artistic lexicon of Jewish-Israeli icons as an anchor for the emerging "civil religion." Bridging internal tensions and even paradoxes, artists dynamically adopted, responded to, and adapted significant Diaspora influences for Jewish-Israeli purposes, as well as Jewish religious themes for secular goals, all in the name of creating a new state with its own paradoxes, simultaneously styled on the Enlightenment nation-state and Jewish peoplehood

Abstract: Staring Back at the Sun: Video Art from Israel, 1970-2012, is a video exhibition, program, and scholarly book that traces the development of contemporary video practice in Israel and highlights works by artists who take an incisive, critical perspective towards the cultural and political landscape in Israel and beyond. Staring Back at the Sun showcases the work of thirty-eight artists including many early performances, films, and videos never before presented outside of Israel. Informed by the international history of video art, the project traces the development of films and video in Israel and explores how artists have employed technology and material to examine the socio-political status quo. Works were selected based on historical significance or context, with attention to equality in gender, ethnic background, and age of the artists represented. Staring Back at the Sun presents an ambitious historical and critical approach, spanning five decades. This 200-page volume is a collaborative project of the Tang Teaching Museum at Skidmore College and Artis, an independent, nonprofit organization that broadens international awareness and understanding of contemporary visual art from Israel.

Abstract: In celebration of Israel’s 70th anniversary, Mingei International Museum, in collaboration with its neighbor in San Diego’s historic Balboa Park, the 70 year-old House of Israel, mounted a magnificent exhibition of Israeli craft and design. Beautifully laid out and filled with an expansive range of creations in a broad breadth of mediums, the exhibition exemplified the imagination, innovation and resourcefulness of a developing nation. The accompanying book, “Israel: 70 Years of Craft & Design,” beautifully captures the excitement of the museum event, presenting historical data as well as wonderful, page-size black & white and color plates of a sweeping array of craft and design creations: textiles, jewelry, ceramic, religious and ceremonial objects, furniture and clothing, and many more, with excellent accompanying explanatory information, and an outstanding, enlightening introduction by exhibition curator Smadar Samson. The spirit of creation – for Art’s sake, for functionality, for ceremonial/historical use, representing both individuality and unity – is stunningly displayed in the book. The striking cover, a detail from Noa Raviv’s ‘Ensemble from Hard Copy Collection’ (2014), created with 3-D software, hints at the wildly imaginative modernity and ingenuity that sits side by side, as it always has in Israel, with reverence for antiquity.

Abstract: The brilliant kaleidoscope of everyday creativity in Israel is thrown into relief in this study, which teases out the abiding national tensions and contradictions at work in the expressive acts of ordinary people. Hagar Salamon examines creativity in Israel's public sphere through the lively discourse of bumper stickers, which have become a potent medium for identity and commentary on national and religious issues. Exploring the more private expressive sphere of women's embroidery, she profiles a group of Jerusalem women who meet regularly and create "folk embroidery." Salamon also considers the significance of folk expressions at the intersections of the public and private that rework change and embrace transformation. Far ranging and insightful, Israel in the Making captures the complex creative essence of a nation state and vividly demonstrates how its citizens go about defining themselves, others, and their country every day

Abstract: The menorah, the seven-branched candelabrum, has traversed millennia as a living symbol of Judaism and the Jewish people. Naturally, it did not pass through the ages unaltered. The Menorah explores the cultural and intellectual history of the Western world’s oldest continuously used religious symbol. This meticulously researched yet deeply personal history explains how the menorah illuminates the great changes and continuities in Jewish culture, from biblical times to modern Israel. Though the golden seven-branched menorahs of Moses and of the Jerusalem Temple are artifacts lost to history, the best-known menorah image survives on the Arch of Titus in Rome. Commemorating the Roman destruction of Jerusalem in 70 CE, the arch reliefs depict the spoils of the Temple, the menorah chief among them, as they appeared in Titus’s great triumphal parade in 71 CE. Steven Fine recounts how, in 2012, his team discovered the original yellow ochre paint that colored the menorah—an event that inspired his search for the history of this rich symbol from ancient Israel through classical history, the Middle Ages, and on to our own tumultuous times. Surveying artifacts and literary sources spanning three thousand years—from the Torah and the ruins of Rome to yesterday’s news — Fine presents the menorah as a source of fascination and illumination for Jews, Samaritans, Christians, and even Freemasons. A symbol for the divine, for continuity, emancipation, national liberation, and redemption, the menorah features prominently on Israel’s state seal and continues to inspire and challenge in surprising ways.

Members: 1948 – the group’s founding; 1951-1955 – The first distinct appearance of abstraction (in Zaritsky’s “Yehiam” series); 1956-1958 – The rift within the group and the leaving of Marcel Janco, Aaron Kahana and Yohanan Simon; 1958-1960 – The triumph of abstraction; 1963 – The final exhibition at The Museum of Art, Ein Harod. Other parts of the exhibit will be devoted to late works by members of the group, representing both their evolution as individual artists and the mature stage of their art, and to works on paper – a medium that allowed for a more lyrical and intimate expression. A separate exhibition space will feature current Israeli artists who are searching in their work for local “fathers” and “mothers.” Their works – which include paintings, drawings, sculptures and installation art – are characterized by quotes and gestures of homage, by an interpretive and sometimes critical perspective on the New Horizons artists. By presenting the works side by side, the existence of this cross-generational dialogue in Israeli art can be explored. The present exhibition coincides with the publication of a revised and annotated edition of Professor Gila Balas’ New Horizons: The Birth of Abstraction in Israeli Art, which tells the story of the group, reconstructs its exhibitions, documents its internal disputes and its battles with powerful forces in the Israeli artistic establishment (museums, The Israel Painters and Sculptors Association) and with other artistic approaches and movements of the time.

Abstract: For Jungjin Lee, photographing the landscape is an exploration of her own mind – the introspective states of the artist, whose photographic gaze is insistent and transformative. Her latest project Unnamed Road approaches the contested territories of Israel and the West Bank by turning to the landscape. Her black-and-white images are self-contained worlds of stillness and wonder, as Lee searches for something constant in the life of the landscape.

Together, they act as a heterogeneous narrative of a conflicted, paradoxical and deeply resonant place, drawn from the combination of these individual photographic sensibilities and approaches. The conception of THIS PLACE began for its initiator Frédéric Brenner in 2005. As his afterword to this catalogue attests, Brenner was driven by a desire to facilitate a visual counter-argument to the prevailing, often polarised, representations of Israel and the West Bank in both national and international news media. Whilst on the one hand acknowledging and paying heed to the region’s ongoing conflicts, THIS PLACE also asks that we look beyond this – that we widen and multiply our lens. From the outset, Brenner acknowledged to himself that no single vantage point – including his own – could speak of the complexity of this historic and contested place and its shaping of contemporary lives; to begin to comprehend the radical dissonance of this place would require a multiplicity of practices and perspectives. Abstract: Stephen Shore is a pioneering photographer and influential teacher. From Galilee to the Negev is an intimate portrait of a multi-faceted place, exploring the landscape of Israel and the West Bank; its complexities and its contradictions. Shore travelled the length and breadth of the region, questioning and revealing through his camera lens. His visual inquiry explores the landscape itself and the people who live in it - the daily lives and the narratives that combine to create this fascinating place - at once beautiful and ugly, safe and hostile. A selection of texts by a diverse range of writers - who have each selected one photograph as a spring board - will be interspersed amongst the photographs, offering a gathering of voices and perspectives. "From Galilee to the Negev" is part of a project entitled "This place".

Abstract: The book investigates the topography of Jewish identity in the West Bank, which is in conflict not only with the Palestinian majority but also with mainstream Israeli society: While all the settlers are Jewish, and almost all are Israeli citizens, many are not natives of Israel. "Settlement" was created under the auspices of a project entitled "This place", which invited twelve international phootgraphers to work in residence across Israel and the West Bank. "This place" consists of a travelling exhibition, companion publications, and a program of events.

Abstract: New Permanent Exhibition - Local Judaica Judaica artifacts produced in the Land of Israel, 1880 - 1967 The finest products of Judaica that developed in the country, beginning in late 19th century until the 1960s, is now on display in this new permanent exhibition opening at the museum. The fascinating exhibit deals with the development of local Israeli culture, the changes made by the waves of immigration and their impact on the shape and symbolism of the Judaica artifacts; the renewed ties of the people with its land; the creation of the new Jew, the halutz and the sabra, in sharp contrast with the atmosphere of the Diaspora. The exhibit relates to the holy sites and their religious-historical symbolism, such as the Western Wall and the Tower of David, alongside the buildings of the national institutions and the Hebrew University on Mount Scopus as an expression of modern renewal. Incorporating the map of Eretz Israeli also emphasizes the moral connections to the country. The Hebrew Judaica artifacts relate to the landscape of the homeland, biblical topics and figures of heroes as a symbol of heroism and national pride such as the Maccabees; after the state was established they were replaced by the figures of men and women soldiers. A prominent place is devoted to the holidays in the city and in the kibbutzim, and to the incorporation of artifacts from Jewish heritage in the life of the secular communities. The new permanent exhibition, next to the exhibit of the Jewish holidays and the Jewish cycle of life, complete the content of the Museum's ethnographical pavilion, offering a full and rich experience to the visitors. Ethnography and Folklore The many facets of Jewish life find expression in the rich array of items used in religious rituals and the ethnographic objects associated with traditions and ceremonies. The nuances and particularities of family and community are reflected in the styles, techniques and iconography characteristic of their period and place of origin. The Holiday Cycle The exhibit begins with a display of symbols and motifs that have become an integral part of Jewish cultural heritage. Having influenced the design and ornamentation of articles used for religious and ritual purposes throughout the ages, the wide and varied use of these symbols provide a celebratory tour of the holiday cycle. The diverse symbols in the exhibit include the iconic seven-branched candelabrum, as well as archetypes based on lions, shofars (ram's horns), etrogs (citrons), lulavs (palm fronds) and incense holders. Among the architectural motifs are schematic depictions of a gabled façade, paired columns, arch and conch shell, which symbolize the Temple in Jerusalem. Over time, these symbols were complemented by those of the Holy Tablets and the Star of David. A special display case illustrates the nexus of Christian, Muslim and Jewish creative art, as well as the influences created with the Jews' return to Israel in current time. The Cycle of Jewish Life The Jewish home and family ceremonies are as diverse as the communities that make up the Jewish world. The ingathering of Jews from so many locations during the great waves of immigration to Israel contributed to the creation of this fascinating collection. Among the cultural pieces a long the side corridors are ornate wedding costumes, jewelry, amulets used for protection and healing, and bags for prayer shawls and phylacteries presented to 13-year-old boys on the occasion of their Bar Mitzvah. The decorated ketubot (Jewish marriage contracts), embellished with ceremonial scenes as well as a variety of symbolic motifs, from the simple to the magnificent, reflect the couple's community of origin - Italy, Holland, the Ottoman Empire, Iran, Afghanistan, India and the Land of Israel.

Abstract: The year 1978 marked Israel's entry into Lebanon, which led to the long-term military occupation of non-sovereign territory and the long, costly war in Lebanon. In the years that followed, many Israelis found themselves alienated from the idea that their country used force only when there was no alternative, and Israeli society eventually underwent a dramatic change in attitude toward militarization and the infallibility of the IDF (Israel Defense Forces). In Narratives of Dissent: War in Contemporary Israeli Arts and Culture editors Rachel S. Harris and Ranen Omer-Sherman collect nineteen essays that examine the impact of this cultural shift on Israeli visual art, music, literature, poetry, film, theatre, public broadcasting, and commemoration practices after 1978. Divided into three thematic sections-Private and Public Spaces of Commemoration and Mourning, Poetry and Prose, and Cinema and Stage-this collection presents an exciting diversity of experiences, cultural interests, and disciplinary perspectives. From the earliest wartime writings of S. Yizhar to the global phenomenon of films such as Beaufort, Waltz with Bashir, and Lebanon, the Israeli artist's imaginative and critical engagement with war and occupation has been informed by the catalysts of mourning, pain, and loss, often accompanied by a biting sense of irony. This book highlights many of the aesthetic narratives that have wielded the most profound impact on Israeli culture in the present day. These works address both incremental and radical changes in individual and collective consciousness that have spread through Israeli culture in response to the persistent affliction of war. No other such volume exists in Hebrew or English. Students and teachers of Israeli studies will appreciate Narratives of Dissent.

Abstract: A Century of Israeli Art presents the story of modern Israel's visual culture, beginning with the pre-state years of Zionist art in the early 20th century and extending to the present day, as a new generation of Israeli artists rises to international prominence in the 21st century. Framing artistic developments in the context of successive periods, author Yigal Zalmona describes the many ways in which Israel's art has been influenced by its social and political history. This look at the wider picture goes hand-in-hand with detailed, enlightening analyses of seminal artworks from every period. Zalmona surveys the early days of the Bezalel School, founded in 1906 in the spirit of the Arts and Crafts movement; Land-of-Israel art during an era of nation-building; the pre-eminence of international modernism and Lyrical Abstraction after 1948; social-activist and conceptual art in the 1970s; and the recent embrace of photography and video. Throughout its evolution, Israeli art has reflected a complex cultural discourse revolving around questions of identity - Western versus Eastern, local versus universal, national and ethnic, collective and personal. Drawing on the author's decades of accumulated knowledge and activity in the field of Israeli art - as historian, critic, teacher, and curator - and aimed at a broad audience, this book will be fascinating reading for art-lovers and for all those with an interest in Israel's cultural history, offering a compelling example of the interaction between visual art and a dynamic, multifaceted society.

Abstract: In The Future of the Jews, Stuart E. Eizenstat, a senior diplomat of international reputation, surveys the major geopolitical, economic, and security challenges facing the world in general, and the Jewish world and the United States in particular. These forces include the shift of power and influence from the United States and Europe to the emerging powers in Asia and Latin America; globalization and the new information age; the battle for the direction of the Muslim world; nontraditional security threats; changing demographics, which pose a particular challenge for Jews worldwide and the rise of a new anti-Semitism that seeks to delegitimize Israel as a Jewish state. He also discusses the enduring nature of and challenges to the strategic alliance between the United States and Israel. Eizenstat's provocative analysis will be of interest to everyone concerned about the future of Jews worldwide and in Israel and the United States' role in a world that is confronting unprecedented simultaneous, cataclysmic changes. Abstract: In Seeing Israeli and Jewish Dance, choreographer, dancer, and dance scholar Judith Brin Ingber collects wide-ranging essays and many remarkable photographs to explore the evolution of Jewish dance through two thousand years of Diaspora, in communities of amazing variety and amid changing traditions. Ingber and other eminent scholars consider dancers individually and in community, defining Jewish dance broadly to encompass religious ritual, community folk dance, and choreographed performance. Taken together, this wide range of expression illustrates the vitality, necessity, and continuity of dance in Judaism. This volume combines dancers̷ own views of their art with scholarly examinations of Jewish dance conducted in Europe, Israel, other Middle East areas, Africa, and the Americas. In seven parts, Seeing Israeli and Jewish Dance considers Jewish dance artists of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries; the dance of different Jewish communities, including Hasidic, Yemenite, Kurdish, Ethiopian, and European Jews in many epochs; historical and current Israeli folk dance; and the contrast between Israeli and American modern and post-modern theater dance. Along the way, contributors see dance in ancient texts like the Song of Songs, the Talmud, and Renaissance-era illuminated manuscripts, and plumb oral histories, Holocaust sources, and their own unique views of the subject. A selection of 182 illustrations, including photos, paintings, and film stills, round out this lively volume. Many of the illustrations come from private collections and have never before been published, and they represent such varied sources as a program booklet from the 1893 Chicago World̷s Fair and archival photos from the Israel Government Press Office. Seeing Israeli and Jewish Dance threads together unique source material and scholarly examinations by authors from Europe, Israel, and America trained in sociology, anthropology, history, cultural studies, Jewish studies, dance studies, as well as art, theater, and dance criticism. Enthusiasts of dance and performance art and a wide range of university students will enjoy this significant volume.

Abstract: "Written by one of Israel's most notable scholars, this volume provides a breathtaking history of Israel from the origins of the Zionist movement in the late 19th century to the present day. Organized chronologically, the volume explores the emergence of Zionism in Europe against the backdrop of relations among Jews, Arabs, and Turks, and the earliest pioneer settlements in Palestine under Ottoman rule. Weaving together political, social, and cultural developments in Palestine under the British mandate, Shapira creates a tapestry through which to understand the challenges of Israeli nation building, including mass immigration, shifting cultural norms, the politics of war and world diplomacy, and the creation of democratic institutions and a civil society. References to contemporary diaries, memoirs, and literature bring a human dimension to this narrative history of Israel from its declaration of independence in 1948 through successive decade of waging war, negotiating peace, and building a modern state with a vibrant society and culture. Based on archival sources and the most up-to-date scholarly research, this authoritative history is ideal for course adoption and a must-read for anyone with a passionate interest in Israel. Israel: A History will be the gold standard in the field for years to come." --Publisher description

Abstract: German-born silversmiths David Heinz Gumbel (1906–1992) and Ludwig Yehuda Wolpert (1900–1981) were among the first to adapt the modern style, characterized by clean, flowing, and functional forms, to the design of Jewish ceremonial objects. Following their arrival in Israel in the mid-1930s, they numbered among the founders of the New Bezalel School of Arts and Crafts, mentoring generations of students who upheld their stylistic heritage, and changing the very conception of Judaica design. Hebrew letters – an expression of nationalism and the revitalized Jewish spirit in the Land of Israel – were at the core of many of their works. In 1956 Wolpert was invited to head the modern Jewish art workshop at New York’s Jewish Museum, a position he held until his death. Gumbel remained in Jerusalem, where he continued training silversmiths in rare techniques known only to few. The exhibition illuminates the untold tale of these two visionary teachers and creators, who became pillars of modern Judaica.

Abstract: "A Ration of Fashion" investigates Israel's first seven years as a sovereign state through the unusual prism of dress. Clothes worn by Israelis in the 1950s reflected political ideologies, economic conditions, military priorities, social distinctions, and cultural preferences, and all played a part in consolidating a new national identity. Based on a wide range of textual and visual historical documents, the book covers both what Israelis wore in various circumstances and what they said and wrote about clothing and fashion. Written in a clear and accessible style that will appeal to the general reader as well as students and scholars, "A Ration of Fashion" introduces the reader both to Israel's history during its formative years and to the rich field of dress culture.

Abstract: With top billing at many film forums around the world, as well as a string of prestigious prizes, including consecutive nominations for the Best Foreign Film Oscar, Israeli films have become one of the most visible and promising cinemas in the first decade of the twenty-first century, an intriguing and vibrant site for the representation of Israeli realities. Yet two decades have passed since the last wide-ranging scholarly overview of Israeli cinema, creating a need for a new, state-of-the-art analysis of this exciting cinematic oeuvre. The first anthology of its kind in English, Israeli Cinema: Identities in Motion presents a collection of specially commissioned articles in which leading Israeli film scholars examine Israeli cinema as a prism that refracts collective Israeli identities through the medium and art of motion pictures. The contributors address several broad themes: the nation imagined on film; war, conflict, and trauma; gender, sexuality, and ethnicity; religion and Judaism; discourses of place in the age of globalism; filming the Palestinian Other; and new cinematic discourses. The authors' illuminating readings of Israeli films reveal that Israeli cinema offers rare visual and narrative insights into the complex national, social, and multicultural Israeli universe, transcending the partial and superficial images of this culture in world media.

Abstract: This book about the reparations issue ("Wiedergutmachung" in German; "shilumim" in Hebrew) brings together selected protocols of all debates held in the Knesset, in its Foreign Affairs and Security Committee, in the Government and in the high councils of the ruling party Mapai, regarding conducting negotiations with the West German Government. This is the first book documenting confidential protocols lately opened to the public. With the elaborate introduction by Yehiam Weitz, this book will serve as a basic textbook for an important chapter not only in Israeli and German history, but also in post-war history in general.

Abstract: The photographs of Gaston Zvi Ickowicz (b. Buenos Aires, 1974) excel in attentive observation of "place" and conduct a unique dialogue with modern and contemporary photography. His precise, introverted gaze captures signs and remnants of occurrences, often facing down, to the ground. His focusing on the layered surface exposes an esthetic, political and emotional complexity and crystallizes into a typological poetic definition of the place.

Abstract: National costume dolls as a socio-cultural phenomenon are part of popular a culture that began before the establishment of the State of Israel, and came to its end in the late 1980s; its halcyon days were between the 1950s and the 1970s. These dolls were made by artists, artisans and craftspeople who used an array of techniques and styles, typically employing straightforward methods. Most of the doll makers and designers were not born in the country; some of them had had art or artisan education and others had a modicum of knowledge of the field. The dolls were displayed and sold privately, in souvenir shops or in shops owned by institutional bodies such as WIZO, Maskit and Hameshakem. They were bought as souvenirs, mementoes of a place or an experience, by Israelis and particularly Jewish tourists who took them home with them after they left the country, a scrap of their national homeland in the shape of ornamental dolls that depicted local types, later to be put on display in their faraway homes. In retrospect, the repertoire of these national costume dolls evokes memories, and perhaps even yearning. However, the exhibit seeks to expand the scope beyond the nostalgic context and regard these dolls as a symbolic unit that conveys messages and meaning about the period, and the changes that took place over seven decades. The dolls in this exhibit manifest symbols, values and myths that relate to the creation of Israeli identity: nationality, ethnicity, the melting pot, pluralism and multiculturalism. Presenting and interpreting the doll collection will draw the boundaries of representation and reveal the figures that are included, as well as those which are not. The exhibit attests to the tension embodied in the dolls, while attempting to answer the question: did these dolls - created over the years -reflect, represent, shape or invent the sought-after imagined and hegemonic Israeliness?

Abstract: 5683 Meilen ist Tel Aviv von New York entfernt.
