Abstract:
Sanu' (1839-1912), was born in Cairo to a Jewish family, but he converted to Islam and took the name Abu Naddara. He was a journalist, a nationalist activist, and a playwright. He was also a polyglot, writing in French, English, Turkish, Persian, Hebrew, and Italian, as well as both literary Arabic and Egyptian Arabic.
