Abstract:
In the current process of demonizing Israel, many verbal methods are used: falsification of information, exaggeration, etc. One of the methods is use of the double standard. Lists seven categories of a double standard in judging Israel: biased declarations and reports (e.g. condemnation of human rights violations in Israel, but not in other countries); omissions; disproportional behavior (e.g. the media usually give more negative information on Israel than on the Arab world); interference in Israel's internal affairs; discriminatory acts; double standard in applying international law; humanitarian racism (attributing intrinsically reduced responsibility to people of certain ethnic and national groups for their criminal acts or intentions, in particular, whitewashing Arab terrorism). Gives examples of application of a double standard in the discourse of the UN, governments, parliaments, Church bodies, media, trade unions, NGOs, and individuals. Suggests ways of combating the anti-Israel double standard, in particular through monitoring its expressions.
