Abstract:
Relates the history of the underground Zionist Hebrew journal "Nitzotz" ("Spark") which appeared in Kovno, Lithuania, in late 1940 as the organ of the Irgun Brit Zion (founded in opposition to the anti-Zionist policy of the Soviet occupiers). The journal (written by hand and mimeographed or copied in 15-30 copies) continued publication in the Kovno ghetto after the German occupation in June 1941 (28 issues), and later in the Dachau-Kaufering concentration camp to where male ghetto survivors were deported in July 1944 with the ghetto's liquidation (the women were separated from them in Stutthof). "Nitzotz" later became the only Hebrew publication of the survivors, and was printed in Munich up to 1948.
