Abstract:
Translation of documents from Polish sources describing eight meetings held by Kot (a high-ranking member of the Polish government-in-exile) with leaders of the Palestine Jewish community, a delegation from Polish Jewry, and the press during his visit to Palestine in late 1942. Notes that the visit took place shortly after reliable first-hand accounts of the Holocaust had reached Palestine, and reflected the Jews' urgent need for the Polish government's help in rescue work. However, relations with the government were tense due to Jewish complaints of discrimination in the evacuation of Polish citizens from the USSR to the Middle East. The documents reflect the Jews' call on the government to restrain Polish antisemitism and the Poles' complaints about "Jewish pro-Soviet behavior".
